For Families
In Home Services
AAC Voices has offered a variety of in home services aimed at improving the lives of individuals with complex communication needs (CCN) and their caregivers/families.
We offer child based sessions focusing on communication, literacy and life skills; as per your child's specific strengths and goals. These sessions range from "just talking", playing games, co-writing books, creating co-planned social scripts and engaging in literacy, life skills or social and leisure activities together as a means to promote communication. Sessions are typically child lead with skills embedded into whatever activities are deemed the most beneficial for that session. Many families find the upkeep and customization of AAC or augmentative and alternative communication systems to be time consuming and difficult. We can work with you to customize systems and determine the best ways to teach new content. We can also assist with the responsibilities of digital backups and ensuring a non-electronic, back up form of communication is ready if needed. Currently we are offering all services virtually as part of our AAC Voices Online program. Caregiver and family training, including siblings and in home care workers, are vital to the success of the use of any communication system. We can work with you to develop a plan for training those who interact with the child. Furthermore, we can work with you to ensure home base interventions work smoothly. Notice: at this times all services are virtual because of Covid 19. |
